Your Web Presence and its Importance

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Growing a web presence and establishing ourselves within the competitive online community can often mean that results and revenues are risky.  Ultimately, an experienced web designer you can get to work within your sector is something that can make your website work for your business as well as creating a good solid web presence.

Understanding how to help business across a variety of industries conducting a number of different projects can be daunting without the necessary and wise heads and relief comes when you find the web designer that has the background in dealing with your type of business.

Approaching a company that not only know the world wide web and work it 24/7 is, evidently, rather a long arduous task (unless you have had the good fortune of a trusted recommendation) and one which can prove costly, but you must choose a design firm that understands your needs and can take that much further.

Knowing that a web presence brings extra followers and with todays web changing on a regular basis, an online web presence can help gain more of your customers trust and can actually help to grow your business as opposed to drain away your profits.

Choose a company that can assist with your web presence, in addition to helping you create an extra few limbs that your business can rely on.  A website will bring you visitors you may never see – perhaps you have a shop in Norfolk, you will see tourists and locals visiting and spending money, but your website can bring you national recognition and a trusted customer base.

Functional ecommerce websites

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Recognising the importance of having a functional ecommerce website that works is important and choosing the right product for your site is imperative to gaining and retaining the right shoppers.

The trend in ecommerce and online trading is becoming fast apparent in the UK, with even the likes of the building and packaging trades jumping on the bandwagon – not something to be sniffed at then?  Well, the answer is no – listen to the news today about how UK shoppers aren’t spending as much money on the high street anymore – they’re still spending it, and it’s becoming obvious where despite the negatives surrounding the credit crunch.

Bespoke or Basic Ecommerce?
Any website should have a great search feature, itself containing good features like individual product search, filters and even stock recording and administration – so your shopper can find the product they want and you can grow your customer base, as well as maintain records and stocks easily.

Ideally, bespoke ecommerce websites built specifically for your business or sector often work better than basic ecommerce software, but everyone understands budget limitations so seeking the best within your range is important so whilst this decision is yours, try not to make too light of it and ensure it works for your UK business.

Being in the fortunate position of your sector and improving sales, not being static, is difficult right now, but the basics of ecommerce and current trends are an important factor in the success of your website.

And, whilst ecommerce and complex features are all very appealing, they should be considered equally along with the design of your site.  Both hugely important factors in building a successful site that tempts the shoppers in – read our previous article on ecommerce website trends for more info.

The result?  A functional ecommerce website that works for you and your business.

Ecommerce Website Trends

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Despite the dreaded ‘C’ word being flailed around the news at the moment, the UK online users are still clicking heavily on those mice – but demands are high and that’s not just the demand for low prices, we apparently want things made simpler so that in a click (or three) users are getting what they want, are confident they are getting value for money, and are happy that they have saved time doing their online shopping.

So demand in all areas is apparently high, where exactly we start pleasing UK users is easy – of course, the cliché ending ‘…if you know how’ is thrown to our minds when we question ourselves on this one!

And so begins the hard work – the shoppers have found your site so what do we have to do next?  The current ecommerce website trend may well change in future, though we can hopefully bring you a little clarification on solving this little problem which is something we think is highly important at the moment – ecommerce website features.

Website Features

So you have a very stylish looking flashy website with all the latest gadgets; it has a bit of ‘flash’ (not too much), it has a search box and it has a very impressive checkout.

Your site is also bright (not too bright) and professional (but not too stick in the mud) and it’s welcoming to the online shopper.

This is all important of course, but no matter how immaculate your site looks and feels, if within a few clicks your potential shopper can’t find what they are looking for despite it being on page x, they will go somewhere else – and probably won’t come back.

Even if you have gained the attention of someone who shops on the high street for a full day, spending oodles, you might as well kiss that person a big farewell if your site doesn’t work.

Be fast, be efficient and be just that one step ahead of the new e-shopper – the current trend is dynamic ecommerce, ‘abrupt’ software which allows your shoppers to click and be lead to what they are looking for – all in double quick time.

You need functional ecommerce and we hit on the current ecommerce website trend in our next article.

Website trends

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Website trends have moved on from the age-old table formatted sites and as well as looking a whole lot more stylish, many sites now have almost too many functions and extras which not only confuses the shopper but puts them off – regardless of how amazing your products are.

Website design uses up a large portion of your budget so taking time and choosing well is imperative in building an online presence and can build up to a successful business, and one to be proud of.  So what are you looking out for when putting together your site?

Attracting More Visitors
So many times have we seen online businesses fold because they have opted for an all-singing all-dancing site, but have been left cold by the lack of knowledge needed to maximize the sites potential, leaving a site sitting doing nothing and bringing little or no revenue.

Judging the Competition
Web presence is great if you know how to work it, so make sure customers can find things easily on your site.  Look at competitors sites to see if they are going with the latest website trends, or if they are using a simple design with a few features.

Minimise Web Gadgets
Instead of concentrating on a ‘do all’ site with trendy graphics and the latest gadgets, get help designing one that your visitors will find easy to use and that works well for your business.

Display Interesting Content
Do you have awards or industry badges you can display?  Useful information, news or interesting pieces about your industry?

Display them, add as much relevant content to your site as you can without crowding it. Website trends of the current web 2.0 era are simpler and easier to read, with fabulous graphics but without too much faff!  Your visitors want to see interesting content in places where it can be easily accessed and bookmarked.  Try adding widgets like ‘digg-it’ and rss feeds so your visitors can subscribe to your site – providing more value and increasing the amount of visitors, and in turn revenue.

It’s hard getting the right balance of text and imagery, a good website design company will be experienced enough to provide good advice along with superior knowledge of what works.
